This morning started out pretty exciting: Gabe woke up this morning with completely dry underpants! Yay Gabe! Then, Nick took Gabe with him to work to play with Nana and his cousins all morning. So I got a "morning off" with just me and the baby. Got a few chores done, and napped for about an hour with Zac. That was nice. Then after lunch, I went over to my in-laws' (where Nick works and where Gabe was playing with his cousins) to bake bread.
I love baking bread. I especially love eating it. Before Zac was born, I was baking a loaf of bread 2-3 times per week. After the birth, I tried to keep up but eventually had to give it up for a while. It was very sad. After being so used to homemade bread, store-bought bread just pales in comparison...
Anyway, about a month or so ago I attended a "class" put on by the women's organization at my church, about breadmaking. There, I learned that it is possible to make bread dough, and then freeze it to save for later! Revolutionary!
The next week, I decided to give baking bread another whirl. I did it in my mother-in-law's kitchen, since it was bigger. I made four batches of three loaves each for twelve loaves total. Baked a couple, and put the rest in freezer bags in the freezer. Left some for the in-laws and brought some home with me.
Well, today I did the same thing again. Except this time I made seventeen loaves! And it took less than two hours. Incredible!
I haven't bought a loaf of bread from the store in two weeks. I am stoked :D
