Raising young children is a big challenge, and often I find myself giving in to frustration, impatience, even anger, forgetting to enjoy my boys along the way. To help me keep myself afloat through the stressful times, I started a diary a couple days ago. In this diary, I record something each day about each of my boys that made me feel good/happy/proud. Of course, I won't be listing them all here, but for example: Yesterday, Gabe and I took a walk and Gabe entertained himself by jumping over cracks the entire time; he's getting to be a pretty good jumper. Today, Zac was sitting in the grass and he would pull up a blade of grass and study it for several seconds, then throw it aside and do the same with another blade of grass, then another...Maybe he will grow up to be a horticulturist...
I am keeping separate pages for each boy so that someday, when they grow up and leave the house, I can give them these diaries to read so they can see that I enjoyed being their mother (and pray they won't remember the times I got stressed and upset and yelled at them).
